What is Touch for Health?
Touch for Health, TFH, is a
synthesis of techniques taken from modern chiropractic,
osteopathy, naturopathy and ancient Chinese acupuncture.
Touch for Health uses muscle testing to
determine how the muscles respond to emotional, structural and
environmental stressors. If a muscle shows a weak response, it
can be improved immediately by stimulating the meridian connected
to that specific muscle or by stimulating specific reflex and
acupressure points on the body. These points work like energy
switches that turn on energy to the muscles they are connected to
when stimulated.
It has been found that each muscle is related
to a meridian, which in turn is related to an organ system in the
body. A meridian is an energy pathway that carries messages
throughout the body. There are specific acupuncture or
acupressure points on these meridians. There are 500 such points
that have been mapped and used for centuries. In Chinese medicine
this system has been used for more than 5000 years.
The reflex points used are: spinal vertebrae
reflexes which are located on the spinal vertebrae tips affecting
the nervous system and restoring the strength to the muscles;
neuro-lymphatic points that are located mainly on the chest and
back and that restore the energy to the lymphatic system;
neuro-vascular reflex points that are located mainly on the head.
Holding a neuro-vascular point improves the blood circulation to
both the muscle and related organ.
History of TFH
The techniques were developed by John Thie,
D.C. in the early 1970s and build on the research of George
Goodheart, D.C. the founder of Applied Kinesiology. Applied
Kinesiology is only taught to professionals such as doctors of
chiropractic. John Thies vision was to share this safe,
simple and amazing healing method with as many people as possible
and created Touch for Health. TFH has made the information
available to laypersons in simple and effective non-therapeutic
and non-diagnostic ways.
These techniques have spread worldwide and are
now being used in over 50 countries.
How is TFH performed?
For a full TFH balance, the client lies down on
a massage table fully clothed. The therapist tests the muscles
using light manual pressure on the arms and legs in different
positions. The client actively participates in both resisting the
pressure and noticing the response. Balances can also be
performed in a sitting or standing position.
A TFH practitioner does not diagnose, prescribe
or treat any kind of disease in any way.
What are the benefits?
TFH balances muscles, which improves posture,
strength, and flexibility and stimulates the bodys own
healing ability. TFH can accelerate recovery from injuries or
illness, reduce pain, increase energy, balance left and right
brain halves, and enhance mental functioning.
Muscle testing can also be used for finding
food sensitivities, other environmental or emotional stressors,
or negative belief systems.

What is Energy Medicine?
Energy Medicine, the way it is taught by
Donna Eden, works with the bodys nine energy systems
(including meridians, chakras and aura). It includes the
practices and techniques of Touch for Health. Its both a
complement to medical care and a complete system for self-care
and self-help.
Energy medicine recognizes energy as a
vital, living, moving force that is at the foundation of our
well-being. In energy medicine, you heal the body by activating
its natural healing energies and also by restoring energies that
have become weak, disturbed, or out of balance. Energy medicine
can be self-applied or administered by a trained practitioner. It
can address physical illness, emotional or mental disorders, and
is also used to promote high-level wellness, peak performance,
and joyful living.
To accomplish this goal, energy medicine
utilizes techniques from healing traditions such as acupuncture,
yoga, kinesiology, and qi gong. Flow, balance, and harmony can be
non-invasively restored and maintained within an energy system by
tapping, massaging, pinching, twisting, or connecting specific
energy points (acupuncture points) on the skin; by tracing or
swirling the hand over the skin along specific energy pathways;
through exercises or postures designed for specific energetic
effects; by focused use of the mind to move specific energies;
and/or by surrounding an area with healing energies (one
persons energies impacts anothers).
What are the benefits?
Energy medicine can be used to treat illness
and relieve pain; stop the onset of illness as soon as it begins,
stimulate immune function, relieve headaches, release stress,
improve memory, enhance digestion, alleviate depression and
uplift your spirit.
By learning simple energy techniques to keep
your energies balanced and humming, you can improve your health,
sharpen your mind, and increase your joy and vitality.
